Richard P. Klimek, 38

Richard Patrick was born
on May 30, 1970, in Alexandria, the 12th out of 13 children to Jerome and
Delleen (Daas) Klimek. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Seven Dolors
Catholic Church in Millerville. The Klimek family lived on the family farm in
the Millerville/Brandon area. Rick attended Brandon High School and graduated in
1988.
Rick met Jennifer Gullickson in August of 1989 and the couple was married on
August 22, 1992, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. To this union two
children were born, Haley and Derek.
In 1988, Rick started working for Traut Wells and in March of 1996 he started
Klimek Brothers Well Drilling with his brother, Don. In 1998, Rick expanded
their business starting Advanced Irrigation and Hydroseeding.
Rick always made time for his wife and kids. He loved hunting, fishing, golf,
watching sporting events - especially the Dallas Cowboys and going to games. As
a father he loved coaching Derek's baseball and Haley's softball teams along
with teaching Sunday School. He also enjoyed playing Texas Hold'em and this past
summer won a tournament to play at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He
was a member of the Eagles, Minnesota Water Well Treasurer and a Pheasants
Forever Board Member.
Richard died on Sunday, Nov. 30, along side his nephew, good friend and hunting
buddy, Matt Baumann, as a result of a auto accident.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; two children, Haley and Derek; parents,
Jerome and Delleen (Daas) Klimek; brothers, David and Jane of St. Paul, Marty,
Allen and Sue both of Alex, Greg and Diane of Fergus Falls, Duane and Jackie of
Evansville and Don and Jill of Garfield; sisters, Emily Klimek of Juneau,
Alaska, Germaine and Steph Beers of Alex, Kathy and Scott Hansen of Leaf Valley,
Renee and Joe Eustice of Ortonville, Rhonda and Jason Bous of Miltona and Glenda
Klimek and fiancé, Jeremy Judd of Wadena; mother and father-in-law, Iva and Jay
Gullickson; sister-in-law, Judi and Mark Femrite; and brother-in-law, Jodean and
Jill Gullickson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Peter and Anna Klimek and Frank
and Eva Daas; several aunts, uncles and friend, hunting buddy and co-worker,
Matt Baumann.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 5, at the Lake Geneva Christian
Center with the Rev. Elaine Leone and Father Al Ludwig officiating.
Pallbearers were his brothers, Dave Klimek, Marty Klimek, Allen Klimek, Greg
Klimek, Duane Klimek and Don Klimek. Honorary Pallbearers were Chad Meyer, Matt
Meyer, Clayton Mohr, Mindie Meyer-Mohr, Erin Eustice, Jaqualine Judd, Ryan
Beers, Nicole Klimek, Elizabeth Gullickson, Joseph Femrite, Nelson Femrite, Brad
Trousil, Bob Anderson, John Labeau, Pat Lindquist, Matt Chan, Justin Klimek,
Shawn Olson, Brent Guenther, Nevin Brede, Will Bjerkness, Jodean Gullickson and
Mark Femrite.
Burial was at the St. Paul's Cemetery in Lowry. Arrangements were with the
