Lowry Days

The second annual Lowry Days was held Friday, Aug. 22 to Sunday, Aug. 24, 2007. Events over the weekend including pork chop feed, karaoke, meat raffle, softball tourney, 5-K run, grand parade, kiddie carnival, antique tractor and car show, bingo, street dance and a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning. The festivities concluded with a community worship service on Sunday morning. The weather was certainly perfect for all activities. A good time was had by both young and older.

Next year's Lowry Day's will be held the fourth full weekend in August '09. Be sure to mark your calendar as a must attend.

Events just don't happen. Local individuals devote a lot of time to the planning and execution of the events. They deserve our special thanks for a job well done. For the sake of simplicity we will mention two different functions: Planning Meetings and Special Functions. I thank Pam Jones for a listing of these community leaders.

Those attending the planning meetings: Stacy Gerdes ( if it wasn't for Stacy there would be no Lowry Days, he's the man behind the scenes and keeps us all on our toes) John and Lucy Olson (Lucy is the City clerk and makes sure are needs are met at the council meetings) Dennis and Pam Jones, Diana Kittleson, Shanna Femrite (keeper of the funds, she works at Lowry State Bank), John Vosberg, Dave Lawrence, and Wally Rajdl.

 

Those who focused on special functions: Diana Kittleson-car show, Dennis Jones and John Olson-parade, Becky Anderson-craft show, Terri Lundblad-4-H participation, Dave Lundblad and Wally Rajdl-Lowry Lions, pancake breakfast,  John Vosberg-Lowry Legion and Fire Department, Curt Blair co-ed ball tournament on Sunday, Nate & Nick Paulzine Saturday softball tournament, Discovery Days Preschool, food and flea market, Oscar Lake Church ladies pie & ice cream, Becky McIver and Marie Anderson community church service, Stacy Gerdes children's carnival and Dave Lorence pooper scooper patrol and Bob Mork 5-K run.
