Lowry Days kicks off Friday
Chad Koenen
Featuring an ever-expanding lineup, Lowry
will take center stage this weekend as the Third Annual Lowry Days kicks off
Friday night.
Following a pork chop feed, wrestling and karaoke contest on Friday evening,
Lowry Days will get into full-swing early Saturday morning with the 5K run and
softball tournament. The craft and bake sale will get underway at 9 a.m. at the
Lowry Community Center.
Also beginning at 9 a.m. is the popular Antique Car, Tractor and Truck Show in
downtown Lowry. The car, tractor and truck show will feature a People's Choice
Award for entrants in the motorcycle, truck, cars (1960 and older), cars (1961
and newer) and antique tractors.
The annual Kiddie Carnival will be held from 12-3 p.m. at the Lowry Community
Center playground and will be a prelude to the Grand Day Parade. The parade will
roll through the streets of downtown Lowry beginning at 3:30 p.m.
At the conclusion of the parade, area firefighters will be busy playing in the
water with the fireman water fights. The water fights will take place on
Florence Ave.
A variety of events, including a concert by the Milan Community Band, chicken
feed, and street dance will carry Lowry Days goers through the end of a busy
Saturday night.
On Sunday, Lowry Days will come to a close with the Lion's Pancake Breakfast and
Community Church Service both at the Lowry Community Center.
